Investigation Date: 4th May 2008
Investigators Present: Fiona Vipond, Drew Bartley, Darren Ritson, Lee Stephenson, Lloyd Wright
Guest Investigator: Mark Winter
Summary
Our task for the evening was to attempt to re-diagnose the pub to see if any ghosts were present on the premises. Our initial interview with the restaurant manageress seemed to suggest there was, as she had experienced a few strange occurrences including the sense of a presence and sightings of shapes and shadows out of her peripheral vision in what was an otherwise empty location. We set up some experiments in the form of a few trigger objects. A crucifix was placed on a table with motion sensors either side of it, and a flour tray experiment was set up with lollipops placed inside, in case spirit children still resided there. During the setting up of the equipment, Lee saw what appeared to be an anthropomorphic shape behind the glass in the door at the top of the stairs as it hurried past from left to right. The strange thing is that whatever it was must have disappeared into the wall behind the door – there was simply nowhere else it could have went. When Lee enquired about a door being where the wall now is, he was told there was never a door there.
While waiting for the pub to empty, the team attempted a séance in the room where the old fireplace once stood. The séance lasted about fifteen minutes with the room temperature rising only two degrees and the room humidity rising about five percent, nothing paranormal there. Nothing really seemed to occur whatsoever, or so we thought. Mark Winter had recorded the séance with his EVP machine and when he was playing back his recording he was astonished to hear what sounded like a young girl’s voice speaking after Fiona posed a question.
You can hear Fiona clearly asking any spirit girls there in the room with us to give us a sign in whatever way they can. Then she asks, "Are you still here?" obviously referring to Jessica. A voice, which came from within the room and was not that of any of the investigators, can be heard saying, "YES, I AM COLD…VERY COLD". We were all astonished to hear this recording and it sent real shivers down our spines. We tried to work out where the voice came from and attempted to give it a rational explanation, but could not. Had it been from outside, which we were confident it was not, the voice wouldn’t have been so clear. It was decided by all present that the voice was very close to the machine that picked it up. Interestingly, the machine and the séance it was recording were right in front of the wall where the fireplace once stood. Could this really have been the voice of Jessica? Or perhaps it was that of another spirit girl?
Unfortunately the rest of the investigation proved fruitless. More EVP recordings were made in an attempt to glean more information from the spirit girl, but alas she did not respond. Trigger objects remained untouched, lollipops stayed in their respective places, and all film footage and photography recorded nothing anomalous whatsoever. Mind you, we can’t grumble. An investigation was secured for The Black Horse, the team was at last back together and an EVP of a girl’s voice telling the investigators she was cold made our night at The Wheatsheaf a great return investigation for the old team.
